Two Months

Lewis turned 2 months old on August 19th. He has become such a happy, playful and observant baby! I feel like we already have to be careful about what we say and do since he is always watching us so closely.

Over the past few weeks, he's learned so much. He finally mastered breastfeeding - yay! He's giving us a 6-7 hour block of sleep at night. During the day, he's a great napper - as long as he's being held... Though, he'll sometimes take a short 30-40 minute nap in the swing. He's cooing and smiling at us and at his toys. He has really started to find his voice over the past few days and will have long conversations. Playtime is more fun now that he really notices his toys and tries to bat and grab at them. He's getting stronger. We can't do tummy time with the boppy anymore because he pushes with his feet and tips himself over the front, landing on his face! He really likes to stand now and can bear his weight. For bath time, we've been using a bucket style tub and he likes to stand up, marching and splashing. He seems to tolerate the water okay, but screams like a little banshee when we take him out.

We had his 2 month well child check yesterday and he weighed 13lbs 12 oz and was 25 inches long. That's about 4 1/2 lbs and 4 inches more than when he was born!

Puppy Love

Lewis fell in love today. You can just tell by the huge smiles and grins!

Who could make my boy so happy -- a plastic puppy that's who!

He suddenly "found" the puppy that plays music and moves on his bouncy chair today. He happily cooed and smiled at the puppy for a good 20 minutes (which made me smile too since I could get a couple things done in that time!). A big thanks to cousins Vincent and Julianne (and their parents) for passing along this great toy to us!

Pete's First Day

Pete started his position as clerk for the Chief Justice of the WI Supreme Court today. We were blessed to have 6 weeks with all of us home together as a family. Pete was sad to leave Lewis but excited to start this new experience. I missed Pete's company today as well as his 2 hands to help with Lewis! Luckily Grandma Julie and Poppy were here to give me a break so I could start studying for my pediatric boards.

Lewis wanted to make sure his Papa knew he wouldn't be forgotten, so he sent him this message.

Pete heading off to the capital for his first day of work.
